The 40V max XGT® Brushless Backpack Blower (GBU04) delivers performance comparable to a 65cc gas-powered model but with significantly lower weight, less noise, and zero emissions. The efficient brushless motor delivers 65cc gas performance with up to 32N blowing force and 675 maximum air volume (CFM) for fast and efficient clean-ups.

The GBU04 weighs just under 20 lbs. with batteries, which is up to 23% lower weight than comparable gas-powered backpack blowers with a full fuel tank. This significantly lower weight is engineered for reduced operator fatigue and improved productivity. The GBU04 is up to 65% quieter when compared to a competitor 65cc gas-powered models.

The XGT® Backpack Blower utilizes the High Power 8.0Ah Battery (BL4080H), which features tabless cell technology that delivers up to 35% more power for optimal blowing performance with the GBU04 (when compared to the Makita 40V max XGT® 8.0Ah Battery, model number BL4080F). It also features a cruise control lever speed lock on the variable speed trigger for comfortable continuous operation.

The GBU04 features a Dual Battery System: With two XGT batteries on board, the blower automatically switches to the second battery when the active battery depletes. This gives users extended run time.

The Backpack Blower features a tube-mounted variable speed trigger that adjusts between 0 - 675 CFM for power and run time management. It also features a 10” Telescoping Nozzle that quickly adjusts length and locks in place with the twist ring for precise, ground-level airflow control.

Convenience features include a tool-less control handle adjustment for user convenience, a display panel that features LED indicators providing real-time tool and power mode status, and two Power Modes that deliver instant power on/off and can switch between High and Low mode with a tactile click button.

Additional convenience features include a shoulder harness with breathable mesh padding that distributes weight evenly for increased operator comfort during extended use. It also features a sound pressure rating of 60 dB(A); measured per ANSI OPEI B175.2:2012.

Star Protection Computer Controls™
Makita cordless tools are engineered for industrial applications, and for added protection during the most demanding jobs Makita created STAR Protection Computer Controls™. STAR is communications technology that monitors conditions during use, allowing the tool and battery to exchange data to protect against overloading, overdischarging and overheating. If STAR detects conditions that threaten to overload, overdischarge or overheat the tool or battery, the tool will automatically stop. At that time the user can either restart the tool, change or charge the battery, and put the tool back to work. When you slide a Makita 18V LXT® battery with the STAR symbol onto a Makita tool that has either the STAR symbol or a yellow terminal, you are benefitting from STAR Protection Computer Controls™.
